Exercises To Help You Create Love In Your Life
Valentine’s Day can be a lonely time if you’re single, widowed, divorced or unhappy with your love life. It’s difficult to be truly happy for others who find joy in their relationships and you feel yourself falling further and further from your friends. Before you sink into the abyss, understand that you cannot reach the high point of your love life without first experiencing the low. Perhaps you know that creating love and abundance in your life starts with you… but how do you do it? Here are some exercises to help you get started…
1. Journaling Exercise: What do you love about yourself? Make a list of all the traits you think would be desirable to a potential mate. Are you generous? Do you have a slender physique? Does your passion for art shine through? Are you a doting mother and a tidy housekeeper? Are you fun-loving and easy-going? Also make a list of what traits are most important in a mate. Understand that you will likely need to make some sacrifices along the way, but try come up with 3 to 5 non-negotiable items that will be your standards.
2. Wishboard: Begin a collage of everything you’d like to have in your life. If your #1 wish is to get a relationship, then focus on that. Cut out photos of people from magazines or online images you find very attractive and place them together on your wishboard. Be creative and look for romantic images – perhaps a couple in a Jacuzzi, riding horses on the beach, picnicking, or relaxing before the sun sets. Spend some time each day gazing upon it and imagining your life with romance. Feel the love you wish to manifest. You’ll be surprised at how quickly your prayers are answered!
3. Hobby Cultivation: Is there something you’ve always wanted to do, but you never made time for it? Perhaps you’d like to dance, cook, paint, learn yoga, join a book club, or go whitewater rafting. Research opportunities in your area and make it happen. You just might meet someone with like interests! If not, then you will at least spend some time cultivating yourself to be a more interesting person and better potential mate.
There is no sure-fire way to find love. Often times, it comes when you’re not looking from unlikely sources. The best you can do is to focus on being the best “YOU” possible and put yourself out there by being active and engaged in the world. Love will find you.
